Office working requirements

A new chapter in our ways of working.

Over the past few months we have had a number of discussions as your ELT about office-based working, considering what is right for Anglo American as we embark on our next phase of growth and development with a simplified portfolio and organisation.

You can be sure that we have debated the pros and cons of various options, recognising that this is an important topic for many of you. We do believe that having our employees working from the office the majority of the time will unlock greater collaboration and support rapid adoption of our new ways of working with our businesses. We are also in no doubt that working with our colleagues face to face helps us develop our skills and capabilities and that it is our people working together most effectively that is key to our success as a business.

We have therefore decided that all colleagues who work in Group Functions based in our Johannesburg and London corporate offices should be working from the office for a minimum of three days per week, with effect from Monday 2 June 2025.

Other important points to note

  • If you work in a Group Function but are not based in the Johannesburg or London offices, please continue to follow your local office requirements.
  • Colleagues in transition roles will also be expected to meet this requirement for office-based working.
  • If you have any questions about these changes to our ways of working, please discuss with your line manager or HRBP.

We know this shift may take some adjustment, but we believe it’s a positive step in evolving how we work together and how we can be better connected and more collaborative in how we work to deliver Anglo American’s objectives.
